On Behalf of | Aug 14, 2023 | Injuries |

Dealing with a serious injury to your head can leave you feeling different in the days and weeks that follow. However, you may not be able to identify exactly what problem you are suffering from until you learn more about common symptoms of traumatic brain injuries.

Once you learn more, you can notice the signs in your daily life and take steps for your health and well-being.

Changes in actions and behavior

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, you may notice that you have more of an impulsive side to you in the time after a TBI. You could struggle with controlling your actions or not becoming angry at others. This difference in behavior may startle some people who know you well, which could lead to them commenting on this change.

Increase in conversational struggles

When trying to communicate with other people after a head injury, you could notice an increase in confused speech and sentences that do not make sense. Whether you cannot understand someone else or you sound confused to another person, you may have trouble communicating. Issues with remembering important facts or incidents can also leave you feeling left out and alone.

Additional emotional problems

An increase in anxiety and feelings of depression in the time after a head injury can greatly impact how you live your life. You may even find that all your emotions are more intense than usual.

Being alert to how your mind and body change after a TBI is key when noticing any health issues.
